Held biennially, WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) is Singapore's premier national skills competition, bringing together talented young individuals to showcase their technical expertise, creativity and passion for skills excellence.

More than a competition, WSS serves as a platform to inspire the pursuit of skills mastery, raise standards of technical excellence, and promote greater appreciation of vocational and technical education. It celebrates the dedication, innovation and capabilities of young skilled talents while highlighting the importance of skills in shaping Singapore's future workforce.

The competition brings together participants from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), polytechnics, universities, private educational institutions and industry, providing opportunities for young talents to demonstrate their capabilities against national benchmarks of excellence.

Competitors put their skills to the test across a diverse range of disciplines, spanning Creative Arts and Fashion, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Social and Personal Services, and Transportation and Logistics. As industries evolve, the competition continues to embrace emerging technologies and future-oriented skills, including Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Software Testing and Unmanned Aerial Systems, reflecting the changing demands of the global economy.

From National Excellence to International Recognition

WSS also serves as a gateway to international skills competitions. Outstanding competitors may earn the opportunity to represent Singapore at the prestigious WorldSkills Competition, widely recognised as the "Youth Olympics of Skills", or the regional WorldSkills ASEAN Competition.

Through these international platforms, Team Singapore competes alongside some of the world's most accomplished young skilled professionals, gaining invaluable experience, exchanging knowledge and showcasing Singapore's capabilities on the global stage.

Over the years, Singapore has established a strong presence at international WorldSkills competitions, earning medals and Medallions for Excellence across a wide range of skills. These achievements reflect the commitment of our young talents, the dedication of their trainers and industry partners, and Singapore's continued pursuit of skills excellence.
