About Us

Since the introduction of National Skills Competition [now known as WorldSkills Singapore (WSS)] in 1994, over 2075 participants had competed in the biennial competitions. Over 710 proceeded to the finals with 254 emerged as NSC/WSS medallists. Of these, 62 went on to represent Singapore in the WorldSkills Competition (formerly known as International Youth Skill Olympics). This group of WorldSkills Competition (WSC) participants has done Singapore proud by winning a total of 10 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals, 4 Bronze medals and 19 Diplomas.

With this large pool of ex-participants and their outstanding performance at the WSC, the WorldSkills Singapore Council (WSSC), chaired by Dr Law Song Seng, Director & CEO/ITE, and comprising representatives from ITE, the five polytechnics, had approved the formation of an alumni to bring the WSC participants as well as other WSS finalists together to share their experience and expertise to further enhance the standard of excellence in technical training and skills competition, and to facilitate the meeting and networking among members.

With financial assistance from ITE and the five polytechnics, as well as voluntary contributions from a nominated protem committee, the WorldSkills Singapore Network (WSN) was formed in 2006 under the ambit of the WSSC, to bring together former WSS finalists so as to promote professional interests and networking amongst former WSS finalists.

All National Skills Competition (NSC) / WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) finalists are eligible to opt-in to be a member of the WSN. Membership is free.

The objectives of the WSN are to:

  • Enhance the standards of training and preparation for WorldSkills international and local competitions;
  • Inspire and motivate the Singapore teams to excel in WorldSkills Competitions (WSC); and
  • Promote professional interests and networking amongst members.
